The Directorate-General of Health (DGS) has published national guidelines for food provision in crèches and other social services for children up to 3 years of age. These guidelines were developed in collaboration with the Social Security Institute (ISS.IP), the Institute for Education, Quality and Evaluation (EduQA, IP), and the Child Protection Agency.

The document establishes recommendations regarding the foods to be made available and limited, the number and composition of meals, appropriate portion sizes, and the progression of textures according to the child's age and development. It also includes guidelines aimed at supporting the maintenance of breastfeeding.

This document aims to support institutions in providing nutritionally adequate, safe food adapted to the needs of children in their early years, contributing to the promotion of healthy eating habits from childhood.
