Approximately 30 final-year students from the level 4 Automotive Mechatronics Technician vocational course, from five school clusters and vocational schools, participated in an assessment task within the framework of the Programme for International Student Assessment – Vocational Education and Training (PISA-VET) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The development of the PISA-VET Cognitive Laboratory was carried out by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), an entity that is also developing the assessment in its different components and for the occupational areas of automotive mechatronics, electricity, healthcare assistant, management and administration, and tourism and hospitality, whose pilot exercise will be carried out next year with a representative sample of students from seven countries, including Portugal.
Student participation played a central role in the process of improving assessment instruments, through conducting tests in an experimental context, as well as their collaboration in interviews and focus groups, allowing for the collection of relevant contributions for their improvement.
In Portugal, EduQA, IP is the entity responsible for carrying out these activities, in close collaboration with the OECD.
