Invitation to Participate in the European Union Youth Translators Translation Competition for Secondary School Students

Secondary schools can register for the 20th edition of the European translation competition Juvenes Translatores , aimed at students born in 2009 (17 years old).

The exam will take place on November 26, 2026, and registrations must be made between September 1 and October 12.

Around 3,000 students from across the European Union will participate, translating a one-page text between any pair of languages from the 24 official EU languages.

This year's theme will be "Erasmus+: 40 years of creating bonds and broadening horizons".

Translators from the European Commission will evaluate the translations and choose one winner per Member State, and may also award honorable mentions. The 27 winners will be invited for a three-day visit to Brussels, from 8 to 10 April 2027, which includes the awards ceremony.

Schools must register on the official competition platform .
