EduQA supports Cape Verde in the implementation of PISA for Schools.

O Presidente do EduQA e o ministro da Educação de Cabo Verde apresentam a pasta do protocolo assinado.

On March 16th, EduQA, IP – the Institute for Education, Quality and Evaluation – and the Cape Verdean government signed a technical assistance contract aimed at supporting the country's Ministry of Education in the preparation and implementation of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA for Schools).

The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Education of Cape Verde, Amadeu Cruz, and the contract was signed by the president of the Board of Directors of EduQA IP, Luís Pereira dos Santos, and by the coordinator of the Special Projects Management Unit (UGPE) of the Ministry of Finance of Cape Verde, Nuno Gomes.

The president of EduQA considered that joining the OECD study will allow Cape Verde to prepare for a possible participation in the international PISA assessment, encouraging the country to take that step in the future.

For his part, Amadeu Cruz highlighted that the initiative represents an important step for Cape Verde to continue raising the quality of its education system and stressed the importance of the evaluation process being conducted with credibility and responsibility.

The technical assistance agreement will last for 12 months and includes training for the national technical team, focusing on adapting assessment tools, implementing the program, and interpreting and using the results to improve learning, student performance, and the education system.

PISA for Schools is an OECD study that has been evaluating the performance of 15-year-old students in the areas of Mathematics, Reading and Science since 2012. Its application in Cape Verde is scheduled for next May.
