The Working Group of the strategic framework of the European Education Area, dedicated to Early Childhood Education, in which Portugal participated through the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, published its Activity Report 2024/2025 .
This report presents the work developed by the Working Group on the theme of leadership in Early Childhood Education, and analyzes the impact of the work since 2020, highlighting three areas of impact: support for European policies, support for national policies and reforms, and the creation of a European Early Childhood Education community.
Over the past two years, the European Working Group has debated the concept of leadership in early childhood education, the skills and training needed for leaders, and their role in building inclusive societies, producing several reports:
– Leadership in ECEC: An Overview of Models and Practices in Europe
– Leadership in ECEC: Competencies and Training
– Reflection Tool to Organize Leadership in ECEC
– Leadership for inclusion: Building capacity to strengthen a whole-system approach to early childhood education and development (ECED)
This Working Group, together with others dedicated to other themes, has supported the countries of the European Union and the European Commission in the implementation of the European Education Area, which aims to create more resilient and inclusive education and training systems.
