The 5th edition of TOP – National Oratory Tournament takes place during the 2026/2027 school year, in different phases:
- In-person training at participating schools or municipal facilities, to be held between October 19, 2026 and March 2027;
- District semi-finals, in various municipalities across the country, in participating schools or municipal venues;
- Grand National Final, on April 18, 2027, at Theatro Circo, in Braga.
The 5th edition of TOP – the National Oratory Tournament, promoted by TOP TALKS – the Portuguese Oratory Association, is aimed at students aged 14 to 16. The main objective of TOP – is to promote the development of oral communication skills, public speaking, argumentation, speech structuring, and self-confidence. The initiative values oratory as a transversal skill, essential for academic success, civic participation, and preparing young people for academic, social, and professional challenges. The tournament includes intensive training in participating schools, district semi-finals, and a National Grand Final, scheduled for April 18, 2027, at the Theatro Circo in Braga.
Student participation is free, promoting equal access and inclusion. The project thus takes on a relevant educational and social dimension, contributing to strengthening young people's confidence, improving their communication skills, and fostering more active participation in school and civic life.
