The National Reading Plan celebrates European Authors Day with the visit to Portugal of the Italian author Beatrice Alemagna, on November 11th and 12th .
Within the scope of this initiative, the National Reading Plan promotes two events :
- November 11th, 5:00 PM – Meeting between Beatrice Alemagna and Mariana Rio, aimed at professionals but open to other interested parties, on November 11th, at Torre do Tombo, in Lisbon.
Free event, registration required through Eventbrite. - November 12th, 10:30 AM – Meeting between Beatrice Alemagna and children aged 6 to 10, at the Palácio Galveias Library, in Lisbon.
With the aim of contributing to the construction of a Europe where books are present in every home, where reading is strongly promoted in public spaces, and where encounters with authors unite the European peoples in a celebration of literature, the National Reading Plan joined the European Authors Day initiative .
European Authors Day was created in 2023 on the initiative of the European Commission. For two years, it was coordinated by Creative Europe, which continues to co-finance the project. Since 2025, European Authors Day , under the slogan # ReadForReal, has been led by a consortium of seven partners from five countries, one of which is the European consortium EU Read, which the National Reading Plan is part of.
In 2026, the National Reading Plan will celebrate European Authors Day for the first time, establishing the Portuguese hub of the program .
We challenge everyone to join this initiative and organize reading events for children and young people between November 11 and December 12, registering their events on the European Authors Day page.
Visit the National Reading Plan website to learn more about the initiative and associated events.
