The process of reviewing the first phase of the 2026 national exams has been a major challenge for the entities responsible for it, namely the National Examination Board, school administrations, examination secretariats, and reporting teachers. In the current academic year, more than 21,000 requests for review of first-phase exam papers were submitted, more than triple the number of requests submitted last year.<\/p>\n

This exceptionally high number of requests put some pressure on the process, requiring the allocation of approximately 2,100 reporting teachers, whose intensive work allowed the results of the reassessments to be sent to the schools last Friday, August 7th. The results of 46 reassessment processes and 110 grading correction processes remain to be sent. In both cases, these results should be sent to the schools today, Monday.<\/p>\n

It should also be noted that 212 requests for reassessment and correction of grades were submitted by schools on Friday, August 7th, and Saturday, August 8th, for analysis by the JNE (National Examinations Board), after the first results had already been sent to the schools. The results of these 212 requests for reassessment or reclassification will be sent to the schools by tomorrow, Tuesday, August 11th.<\/p>\n

It is worth highlighting that the mechanisms for reviewing, reassessing, and appealing exam results have existed for decades precisely to ensure that the final grade relevant to academic life and access to higher education corresponds to the performance actually demonstrated by the student. Thus, as happens every year, the right to apply to the National Higher Education Access Competition on an equal footing is fully safeguarded from the moment the student receives their final exam grade. These mechanisms are, therefore, structuring elements of the national external evaluation system, constituting materially adequate guarantees for the protection of the rights of students and applicants to higher education.<\/p>\n

In coordination with the Institute for Higher Education (IES, IP), it is ensured that no student will be prevented from applying to the 1st phase of the National Competition for Access to Higher Education due to a delay in the publication of the result of the reassessment request or in the issuance of the ENES form.<\/p>\n

It is recalled that the Regulations for the National Competition for Access to Higher Education stipulate the following:<\/p>\n

Whenever the result of a review or appeal of a grade in a national secondary school final exam or other element considered in the calculation of the application grade is only known after the application deadline, and results in a change of grade, the following information may be provided, up to three consecutive days after its publication:<\/em><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. a) The submission of the candidacy, to candidates who then meet the conditions to do so;<\/em><\/li>\n
  2. b) Amendments to the application, for candidates who have already submitted their application.<\/em><\/em> <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Regarding the reassessments of the first phase exams submitted to the JNE (National Examinations Board), the main data are presented below:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Total number of reappraisals (Model 12) submitted \u2013 21,021<\/li>\n
    • Total number of quote corrections (Model 10) submitted \u2013 2,957<\/li>\n
    • Number of reassessments submitted late by schools \u2013 89<\/li>\n
    • Number of corrections to quotations submitted late by schools \u2013 123<\/li>\n
    • Number of reassessments delivered to schools by the JNE on August 7th \u2013 20,886<\/li>\n
    • Number of quota corrections delivered to schools by the JNE on August 7th \u2013 2,724<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Based on the results of the reassessments, approximately 77% of the submitted tests saw their classification increase, 7% saw their classification decrease, and approximately 16% maintained their classification.<\/p>\n
